TV Drama Fans and Mystery Fans: By the Numbers for the 2025/26 TTBL Season

Between last season and the upcoming season in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), an analysis of individual records has revealed some interesting results and, at times, insights. Hopefully, our look at the numbers—beyond the raw statistics—can make the wait until the season starts a little more entertaining.

Streak Heroes
Almost as expected, the longest winning streak of the 2025–26 season was achieved by the new TTBL superstar Fan Zhendong—though only after an unexpectedly bumpy start to the season. After suffering his third loss in his first six matches, the Chinese Olympic champion didn’t drop a single match in 18 consecutive singles matches on his way to winning the title with 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT. European silver medalist Benedikt Duda (TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt) remained undefeated for 13 consecutive matches, marking the second-longest winning streak by a TTBL professional.

Losing Streak
Cedric Nuytinck (Borussia Dortmund) had absolutely no reason to celebrate. The Belgian failed to win any of his 15 singles matches, recording the longest losing streak by any player last season. Maciej Kubik (TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau) also had little cause for satisfaction at times during the season, having gone 11 singles matches in a row without a win.

Highest-Volume Player
Benedikt Duda earned the title of most hardworking player last season. Bergneustadt’s number one played in 33 of a possible 44 singles matches during the regular season and added two more matches in the semifinals of the Liebherr TTBL Final4. With this, the national team player surpassed Werder Bremen’s star Kirill Gerassimenko, who played a total of 32 matches. Kanak Jha (Borussia Düsseldorf) came in third on the list for most matches played this season with 29 singles appearances.

Unbeaten Records
Among the regular players with at least ten appearances this season, no one remained undefeated—a fact that held true for nearly all TTBL players. Only “occasional player” Yuto Muramatsu (Saarbrücken) still had an unbeaten record at the end of the season—after three wins in his three singles matches.

Dominators
Benedikt Duda, a frequent competitor and serial champion, was also the dominant force of the season. Duda won 14 of his matches without dropping a single set. Fan Zhendong and Anton Källberg (Düsseldorf) also celebrated commanding victories on numerous occasions, each with ten 3-0 wins in their season records.

High-Stakes Thrillers
Kirill Gerassimenko emerged as a specialist in high-stakes matches. The Kazakhstani player contested twelve matches that went the full distance—the most five-set matches of any TTBL player in action. Gerassimenko came out on top in eight of those matches.

Top Players
The twelve most successful players of the past season were spread across no fewer than eight clubs. No fewer than three players from Düsseldorf were represented in this elite group. Champions Saarbrücken and Final4 participant Bremen each have two players in the ranking. Only four clubs—TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell, TTC OE Clarity Telefonie-Systeme Bad Homburg, Grenzau, and ASC Grünwettersbach—have no players in the top group.

Thriller Fans
Saarbrücken and Fulda provided plenty of excitement throughout the season. In eight matches involving both teams—more than a third of their respective season matches—the outcome was decided only in the final doubles match. Fulda won five of those matches, while Saarbrücken won only two.

Variability
One reason for Saarbrücken’s poor doubles record last season may have been the numerous lineup changes. On their way to the title, the Blue-Blacks fielded five different pairings in their eight doubles matches—more than any other team.
