Kickoff on August 16: TTBL Releases the 2026/27 First-Half Schedule

The summer break is coming to an end: The Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) has released the schedule for the first half of the 2026/27 season. The new season kicks off on August 16 with a match between three-time champion 1. FC Saarbrücken TT and Borussia Dortmund. Record champion Borussia Düsseldorf starts with an away game and has a highlight planned for Matchday 2.

Following the spectacular season finale at the Liebherr TTBL Final4 and 1. FC Saarbrücken TT’s championship victory, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is looking ahead to the 2026/27 season. Starting August 16, twelve teams will compete for points and the German championship. All fans can once again look forward to world-class table tennis and numerous superstars—with plenty of highlights already in store during the first few weeks of the new season.

The new season kicks off on August 16 at Borussia Dortmund, when the three-time champion, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, visits starting at 3:00 p.m. Two hours later, Post SV Mühlhausen will also serve up the first match, hosting TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau starting at 5:00 p.m. The next teams take the court the following day: Last year’s semifinalist, SV Werder Bremen, faces TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell—led by Dimitrij Ovtcharov—on August 17 at 6:30 p.m. At the same time, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen also kicks off the new season, hosting TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt starting at 7 p.m.

Düsseldorf Plans a Highlight Match at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle

Two more matches will take place on August 18: TTC OE Clarity-Telefonie Systeme Bad Homburg will host Borussia Düsseldorf (6:30 p.m.), followed by TSV Bad Königshofen taking on ASC Grünwettersbach (7:00 p.m.). Countless eyes around the world will then be on the record champions: After Düsseldorf missed out on the championship twice in a row, coach Danny Heister’s team is now looking to make another run at the title. To that end, Borussia has secured the services of Fan Zhendong, who is transferring from Saarbrücken to the Rhine.

To give the Olympic champion’s first home match the attention it deserves, the Düsseldorf team is planning a special event: On August 22, the match against TSV Bad Königshofen (8:00 p.m.) will be held at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle, which can accommodate up to 4,250 fans. The day before, on August 21, Saarbrücken will also play its first home game of the season: The defending champion will host Post SV Mühlhausen (6:30 p.m.).
