Round of 16 complete: pure excitement in the German Table Tennis Cup

Exciting matches await all fans in the round of 16 of the German Table Tennis Cup: defending champions TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will face SV Werder Bremen, while record cup winners Borussia Düsseldorf will take on TSV Bad Königshofen. Other highlights, such as 1. FC Saarbrücken TT against Borussia Dortmund, promise pure excitement.

The 2025/26 season of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is about to begin, and the table tennis stars will be back in action in halls across Germany from the first match day on August 27, 2025. In addition to the new season in the TTBL, the German Table Tennis Cup is also looming large. In the cup round of 16, the 16 teams want to take the first step towards the Liebherr Cup Final Four, where the first title decision of the season will be made in January 2026.

Numerous exciting matches are expected in the round of 16 of the German Table Tennis Cup. For example, defending champions TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will face SV Werder Bremen on Sunday, September 21, 2025 (1 p.m.) and want to take the first step toward the Final Four against Mattias Falck's Hanseatic team. Last January, the Swabians prevailed in the Liebherr Cup Final Four and secured the German Table Tennis Cup for the fifth time in the club's history. Borussia Düsseldorf also faces a tough challenge: The record cup winners, who have strengthened their squad with Kanak Jha and Li Yongyin, will face TSV Bad Königshofen away (September 20, 4 p.m.). The Lower Franconians have to cope with the departure of Jin Ueda, but have gained a great talent and an experienced player in Andre Bertelsmeier and Daniel Habesohn.

Further matches between teams from the TTBL will take place between 1. FC Saarbrücken TT and Borussia Dortmund (September 19, 7 p.m.), between TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell and ASC Grünwettersbach (September 19, 7:30 p.m.), and between Post SV Mühlhausen and TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt (September 21, 3 p.m.). The two winners of the preliminary round groups, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT II and TTC indeland Jülich, can look forward to highlight matches against TTC OE Clarity Telefonie-Systeme Bad Homburg and TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, respectively. In addition, there will be a duel between the other preliminary round group winners, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and SV Union Velbert, meaning that at least one team from the second Bundesliga will be in the quarterfinals and then only one step away from reaching the Final Four. The exact schedule for the round of 16 matches with second division teams will be announced shortly.

The title will be decided in the Liebherr Cup Final Four in January 2026, which will be held as usual with two semi-finals and a final on one day.

All matches in the Table Tennis Bundesliga and the German Table Tennis Cup (matches with TTBL clubs as the home club) will also be broadcast live and exclusively on Dyn in the 2025/26 season. Extensive highlight coverage and diverse content on social media will complement the offering for all table tennis fans.
